Climb mount Layla (Laila)

Mount Layla is not the highest Mountain of Georgia, but it is unbelievably picturesque, from its top you can see the Main Caucasus Chain and whole Svaneti Region.

Mount Layla, also spelled as Laila, is not the highest Mountain of Georgia, but it is unbelievably picturesque. From its top you can see the Main Caucasus Chain, as well whole whole Svaneti Region. Best thing is, that even Hikers without experience can climb Laila and enjoy its wild beauty.

For many travelers, climbing tour to Laila is definitely on of the best alpine tours of Georgia.

Starting point is Kutaisi, but we can organize your trip from Tbilisi as well.

Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Svaneti

We will pick you up at the Airport, or in your hotel and drive direction Svaneti. On the way to Svaneti, we will have the possibility to buy food and supply for our tour.

Late afternoon we will arrive in a small village - Becho, at the foot great mountain Ushba.
At the evening we will enjoy delicious dinner in our family hotel.

Day 2: Crossing of Chizhdi pass (3.200m)

Early in the morning we will drive to village Tskhumari, put our luggage on horses and start hiking direction Layla. After 6 hrs. of hiking, we will cross the steep pass - Chihzdi (3.200m) and after a short descend we will get to our camp at the elevation of 3.000 m.

At the camp we will cook dinner ourself together.

Day 3: Summit Day - Climbing mount Layla

We well get up at about 3 am. And start hiking direction Layla, firstly without crampoons, or rope.

The way to the picturesque peak of Layla goes through the glacier that step-by-step lead to the rocky crest, by which we'll get to the top, we move in bonds and cats. The climbing may be complicated by deep snow or opened cracks, but by a good weather will be everything manageable.

If everything goes well, we should be back to the camp till 12 pm.

Day 4: Second attempt in case of bad weather

If the second attempt for climbing Laila, won’t be needed we will descend back in village and use next day for an excursion in Svaneti region.

Day 5: Back to Becho

Descent to the village by the same way we went up and enjoy delicious food and drinks by a local family in Becho.

Day 6: Transfer to Kutaisi, or to Tbilisi

After breakfast we will drive to Kutaisi, but we can also drive you to Tbilisi, or organize transfer to Batumi, at the black sea.
