Horse riding tour in Tusheti

Itinerary

Day 1: Driving to Tusheti

We will pick you up at your hotel and drive over Abano Pass to Tusheti. After 7 hours of driving, several breaks, small walks in nature and photo shooting, we will reach administrative centre of Tusheti – Omalo, located at 1.800 meters above sea level.

Day 2: Riding from Omalo to Diklo

Today is the first riding day in Tusheti. Firstly, we will ride around Omalo to get familiar with our horses and then hit toward Diklo, a fortified village at the border to neighbour republic – Dagestan.

Day 3: Ride from Diklo to Dartlo

Riding tour in Tusheti will bring us today to the next historical Village of the region – Dartlo, known for its defending stone towers and houses.

After several breaks and about 6 hours of riding, we will reach Dartlo and stay there in a cosy guesthouse.

Day 4: Ride over Nakhaicho to Gometsari Valley

Today’s ride will be one of the best of our riding tour in Tusheti. Firstly, we are going through a pine forest till the meadow of Ghele. Here we will turn right and ride over a mountain ridge with phenomenal views over whole Tusheti region.

After about 3 hours of ride, we will reach Nakhaicho Pass at the elevation of 2.900 Metres.

From Pass we will descend to Gometsari Valley and because the ridge is quite steep, we have time to time to get of the horses.

At the late afternoon we will reach our destination Jvarboseli village in Gometsari Valley and enjoy delicious dinner by our hosts.

Day 5: Ride to Omalo 

Today is the last, but also most pleasant part of our Tusheti Horse riding tour. Mainly we ride over gravel road through the old villages and there are just a few parts, where we have to get of the horses.

Among other highlights, we will today also visit the new highest permanently inhabited village of Europe – Bochorna, located at the elevation 2.345 meters above sea level.

At the evening we will reach Omalo and celebrate the ending of Horse-riding tour in Tusheti.

Day 6: Back to Tbilisi and Wine region Kakheti 

The horse-riding part of the tour is getting to the end, but we still have a few highlights in Georgia to experience.

When we get back to Kakheti, we will visit regions most famous Cathedral – Alaverdi built in 11^th century and then drive to a traditional wine cellar. Here we will get acquired with traditional Georgian method of winemaking and try several types of white and red wine.

At the evening we will get to Tbilisi and bring you to your hotel.
