This trip around Georgia will bring you in the world of diverse culture and nature. You will travel to highlights of the country and at the same time discover destinations with little tourism.
You will travel in Georgia from black Sea to greater Caucasus and from small villages of Svaneti till capital of the country – Tbilisi. On this trip you will enjoy tasty dishes and homemade wines of Georgia.
On trip around Georgia, you will stay mostly two nights in one place and you will not have to pack your luggage every day. Also travel in small group, with average 6 Person will allow us a richer experience, less hassle & more options.
To make our travel to Georgia more diverse, we will also ingrate in our itinerary some folklore evening, with traditional dances and polyphonic songs.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Batumi at the black sea
Our trip in Georgia starts in a very modern city at the black sea – Batumi. This city is famous for its extravagant architecture, greenery and long promenades.
After small rest in our hotel, we will make a short excursion in Batumi and then drive to a traditional restaurant, where we can enjoy delicious Georgian specialties.

Day 2: Botanical Garden of Batumi and Svaneti in greater Caucasus
Today we will make a pleasant walk-through botanical garden of Batum. Located at the green cape, it represents with its 111 hectares and nine Phyto-geographic areas, one of the widest varieties of flora in the world.
After the nice walk-in botanical garden, we will drive to Svaneti in greater Caucasus. On the way to Svaneti we will make several breaks to take pictures and enjoy the beauty of this exceptional wonderful region. We will also visit the world's second highest concrete arch dam, with a height of 271.5 meters – Enguri.
In the evening we will arrive in Mestia – Administrative centre of Upper Svaneti and stay in a cosy hotel, run by locals.

Day 3: Highest mountains of Georgia and UNESCO Village Ushguli
Today we will explore one of the best highlights of our trip in Georgia. We will drive higher in greater Caucasus and visit a unique village Ushguli, which is since 1996 part of world heritage, because of its numerous of special defending towers. But not only the towers attract people to Suhguli, it is also location just beneath of highest mountain of Georgia – Shkhara (5.203m), which makes Ushguli to a special place.
We will walk through the village, visit most important church of the region – Lamaria, built in 12th c, and drive in the evening back to Mestia.

Day 4: Kutaisi – Ancient kingdom of Colchis
Today we will travel to second largest city of Georgia – Kutaisi with 250.000 residents. Kutaisi was for a long-time main city in ancient kingdom of Colchis and capital of Georgia for many centuries, during Arab and Mongol invasions.
Nowadays is Kutaisi famous for its old monasteries, natural monuments like karst caves, green gardens, hospitality and very delicious kitchen, especially for people, who like vegetables and white wines.
In Kutaisi we will visit UNESCO World heritage Site – Gelati monastery with its academy from 12th c, and ancient temple Bagrati from 11th c.
We will also walk through the local market, with huge amount of colourful local products and drive later to our nice family hotel, where we get delicious dinner with some homemade wine.

Day 5: Nature of lesser Caucasus
Our trip to Georgia will bring us to resort Borjomi, in lesser Caucasus. Borjomi is famous for natural beauty and fresh air, but first of all for its natural volcanic mineral waters. This place Russian emperors have chosen as their residence, where they have spent summer time with their families.
In Borjomi we will walk through historic park, taste mineral waters and drive farther to the next city - Akhaltsike, where we stay in nice family hotel.

Day 6: Cave town Vardzia
Travel in Georgia doesn’t mean only black sea, high mountains and diverse nature. It means also history in combination with ancient culture and today we can discover it on our own.
We will visit one very important cultural monument of the country – Cave town Vardzia built in 12th century. Originally more than 5.000 underground halls cut into the solid rock, living and dining rooms, wine cellars, several churches with mural paintings, pharmacies and libraries, Vardzia had everything, what an ordinary town has nowadays, just all in 12th century and cut in the rocks.
For exploring Vardzia we will take about two hours, then drive back to Akhaltsikhe and visit other impressive monuments of the region: Castle Khertvisi and recently renovated Rabati fortress.

Day 7: Cave town Uplistsikhe and Georgian military highway
Today’s trip in Georgia will bring to another cultural highlight of the country – the ancient cave town Uplitsikhe, founded in 6th BC, where some of the structures date back to the Iron Age. Even though most of the caves are damaged, or destroyed, Uplistsikhe has a special charm, probably because it was inhabited by every day, ordinary folk – traders and Silk Road merchants – and not just royalty or monks.
At the afternoon we will drive through Gori, birthplace of Dictator Stalin. Here we can visit the house where he was born, as well the carriage which was used by Stalin from 1941 onwards, including his attendances at the Yalta and the Tehran Conferences.
Our next destination is Ananuri Complex and fortress, from 15-17th c, located at Zhinvali lake.
At the evening we will reach Ski resort Gudauri and stay there for two nights.

Day 8: Stepantsminda and mount Kazbeg
Today we will reach the highest point of our trip in Georgia – Jvari Pass, located at the attitude 2.400 Meters. Just two more kilometres on the serpentine and we reach pink mount of Kazbegi travertine natural monument, with sparkling mineral water.
Before noon we will reach regional centre Stepantsminda, formerly known as Kazbegi. From here we will drive to inspiring and most photographed Church of Georgia, Gergeti Trinity 14th c. The views from here to Mount Kazbeg and its glacier are wonderful.
After launch break, we will drive through Dariali gorge and visit Archangel monastery just at before the border to Russian federation.
At the evening we will drive back to Gudauri

Day 9: Spiritual centre of Georgia - Mtskheta
Our trip around Georgia will bring us to previous capital of eastern Georgia and spiritual centre of the country – Mtskheta. Here we will visit two UNESCO world heritage sites, Svetitskhoveli Cathedral from 11th and Jvari monastery from 7th centuries.
At the afternoon we will drive over Gombori Pass (1.620m) to Wine region Kakheti.

Day 10: Wine region Kakheti
Beside culture, nature and history, travel to Georgia means also enjoying unique wines, made in clay vessels buried underground, just like our ancestors were doing thousands of years ago.
After short walking tour in capital of wine region – Telavi, we will visit Alaverdi Cathedral from 11th c and then drive to traditional wine cellar, where we make a tour of the vineyards to see production, hear the history, to learn what’s deference in European and Georgia’s UNESCO listed wine making traditions.
To see and taste the difference between wine making in Georgian and in European tradition, we will taste 4 different wines, 2 Georgian and 2 European style.
At the evening we will enjoy traditional dinner in our family hotel, with several homemade wines and Georgian Grappa.

Day 11: City of love – Signagi
Today we will drive to a romantic city Signagi. This town, located at the of a hill, with architecture from 18th c, and a small city hall, where you can get married any time you like, is by locals often called as “city of love” and for many visitors this city is a real highlight by a trip in Georgia.
In Signagi we will have an organized lunch by a local family, with tasty dishes and some traditional wines.
After lunch break in Signagi we will visit Bodbe nunnery, located just in 2 kilometres away from Signagi and then drive to capital – Tbilisi.

Day 12: City tour in Tbilisi
Today we will have enough time to explore the capital and one of the oldest cities of Georgia – Tbilisi. We will visit the highlights: Sioni Cathedral 17th c, oriental bath district (Abanotubani), Synagoge, Antchiskhati basilica 6th c. We will walk through narrow streets of the city and enjoy a mixture of old and new architecture. Whole tour through Tbilisi will take about 5 hours.
At the evening we will drive to a traditional restaurant, where we can celebrate successful ending of our organized trip around Georgia and enjoy evening with the Georgian folklore
