Short trip to Svaneti – 4 Days
On this short trip to Svaneti you will travel to the mystical western province of Georgia, the land of defending stone towers, the highest permanently inhabited settlements in Europe and snow-covered peaks of Greater Caucasus.
To make your trip to Svaneti more pleasant, we will stay 3 nights at the same comfortable hotel, run by locals and enjoy every day tasty homemade dishes.
Itinerary:
Day 1: TBILISI-ZUGDIDI-SVANETI
Short trip to Svaneti starts in Tbilisi, but we can organize this tour from Kutaisi, or another city of Georgia as well.
We will pick you up at your hotel and drive to Svaneti. From Tbilisi it is going to be quite long journey, for about 9 hours, but we will make several breaks, take pictures and drive through beautiful nature of greater Caucasus. Among others, we will visit worlds third highest arch dam – Enguri
At the evening we will arrive in Mestia, administrative centre of upper Svaneti, located at the elevation of 1,500 meters and enjoy traditional dinner in our family hotel.

Day 2: MESTIA AND SURROUNDINGS
In the morning we will make an easy hike to the village Tsvirmi and enjoy panorama views of Tetnuldi mountain. Tsvirmi is the last village, where people are still finding gold in river Enguri.
From Tsvirmi we will drive back to Mestia and make a city tour. We will walk through the city and visit Mestia State Museum, with amazing collection of medieval golden and silver icons, manuscripts from 9-10th c and ethnographical implements; You will also look at little churches from 10th c with well-preserved unique frescoes inside.

Day 3: MESTIA-USHGULI
After breakfast we will drive to Ushguli (2.200 m) – the highest permanently inhabited village in Europe and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In Ushguli you will find yourself in the realm of medieval towers, surrounded by the mountains of Great Caucasus Range, glaciers, high peaks and roaring waterfalls. The way to Ushguli is extremely attractive as well. You will cross little villages Ipari and Kala, where the spirit of medieval life is still very strong.
We will hike to summer residence of Queen Tamara, visit most important Church of Svaneti – Lamaria 12th c, and make a walk through the village.

Day 4: BACK TO TBILISI
After breakfast we will drive over Zagri Pass and Lentekhi back to Tbilisi.
