Snowshoe Tour around Mt. Kazbek

During the two-day snowshoeing tour, you will explore two gorgeous routes of Georgia around Mount Kazbek.

We will hike on snowshoes above Gergeti Church almost to the glacier of the mighty Mount Kazbek and the next day we will explore Chaukhi Mountains, also called Georgian Dolomites.

During the snowshoeing tour around Mount Kazbek, we will also get acquainted with the cultural side of the country through the historical military road and spend a night in a comfortable family hotel, where we will taste several homemade Georgian specialties.

Day 1: Snowshoeing in Stepantsminda

You will be picked up at your hotel in Tbilisi around 8 am and transferred to Stepantsminda. On the way we will visit the highlight of the country - fortified church of Ananuri, located on the Jinvali reservoir.

After a total of about 3 hours’ drive, we will reach Stepantsminda, where we will drive up to 2,200 meters by car (depending on snow conditions) and start the snowshoeing towards Kazbeki glacier. On the way we will have unique views of Mount Kazbek (5.047), as well as of the surroundings of Stepantsminda and Gergeti Church.

On the way back we will visit the Trinity of Gergeti and drive down to the village.

In Stepanzminda we stay in a comfortable family hotel and after a hot shower, we enjoy homemade regional specialties.

Day 2: Snowshoeing in Juta around Georgian Dolomites

After breakfast we will drive about 30 minutes to the village of Juta, where we will start our snowshoe tour towards Chaukhi Mountains, also called Georgian Dolomites.

All the time during the snowshoe tour we will have a great view of the Rocky Mountains of Chaukhi, as well as snow-covered landscape of the Great Caucasus and the best part is that, we will hardly have to go up and down steep slopes.

Arrived at the foot of Chaukhi mountain, we will have a picnic break and then return back to Juta.

In Juta we will have time to change clothes and then drive to Tbilisi.
