On this roundtrip with short and pleasant hikes you will explore Georgia on a comfortable, but still active way. You will not climb steep slopes and not exceed 2 to 4 of hiking hours a day.
During the roundtrip in Georgia, you will explore rich culture and diverse landscape of the country, from capital Tbilisi, over Greater Caucasus and defending towers of Svaneti, till very modern city Batumi at the black Sea.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival to Georgia
We will pick you up at the airport in Tbilisi and bring you to your hotel in old part of the city.

Day 2: City tour in Tbilisi
Our roundtrip in Georgia starts with a city tour in Capital of the country. All highlights of old city are very close to each other and we can explore the city by foot in about 3 to 4 hrs.
Sightseeing to visit:
View point at Metekhi church Sulfur Bath (Abanotubani) Synagogue Sioni Cathedral Oldest Church of the city – Anchiskhati 6th century.
After lunch we will make a walk along the main Street of the city – Rustaveli and bring you then back to your hotel.
At the evening we will drive to a traditional restaurant and celebrate beginning of our roundtrip in Georgia.

Day 3: Georgian Wine and spiritual center Mtskheta
After breakfast we will drive to Mtskheta, ancient capital of eastern Georgia. Located on the crossroad of silk road and Georgian military highway. Mtskheta is one of the most sacred places in whole Georgia, where first cross of the country was erected back in 4th century.
In Mtskheta we will visit two UNESCO World Heritage Sites; Jvari monastery from 6th and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral from 11th century.
At the Noon we will visit wine cellar and taste some traditional Georgian wines. After wine tasting, our Georgian roundtrip will go further direction Greater Caucasus via Georgian Military Highway.
On the way we will visit Ananuri complex and Aragvi duke’s residence, located at Jinvali dam. At the evening we will get to Gudauri Ski resort, located at 2.100 meters above sea and stay in a comfortable hotel.

Day 4: The Greater Caucasus and mount Kazbek
Our roundtrip in Georgia will bring us today over cross Pass at 2.400 m, where we can make several stops and taste mineral waters as well as observe snowy peaks of the mountains and waterfalls, the birthplace of Aragvi and Tergi River.
After 1 hour drive, we will reach our destination – Stepantsminda and start a pleasant hike to Gergeti Trinity Church –the most important church of 14th century, located on the slope of Mount Kazbek. The stone decorations represented on the façade of the church will lead you to the ancient rituals and beliefs.
If we are lucky with weather, we will see Mount Kazbegi (5.047 m) According to the legend Amirani – Georgian Prometheus, punished by Gods was chained on the rock here.
At the Evening we will return to Gudauri.

Day 5: Cave town Uplistsikhe and Kingdom of Colchis
After breakfast we will drive to Gori, birthplace of dictator Stalin, where we can visit his House and items related to the dictator’s life. After small break in Gori, we will visit ancient temple town Uplistsikhe – which dates from the 6th c BC and is mentioned in the chronicles of the 1st c. A.D.
In the afternoon we will drive to the second largest city in Georgia- and previous capital of kingdom Colchis - Kutaisi.
We can make several stops on our way: there are pottery markets, farmers selling baskets, honey, mushrooms and fruits. Kutaisi is famous for its hospitality, delicious cuisine and special dishes such as Imeretian cheese pie, Khachapuri.

Day 6: Defending towers and snow-covered peaks of Svaneti
Best part of our roundtrip in Georgia is starting just today, by driving to Svaneti, but firstly we will visit local farmer’s market and enjoy the colors of fruitful country. Then drive to Gelati academy and monastery complex 12th c-UNESCO site.
After Lunch we will drive to Svaneti and observe picturesque views along the river Enguri. In most cases we will drive on ground roads among dramatic cliffs and narrow canyons of roaring River and waterfalls.
At the evening we will reach our destination, capital of upper Svaneti – Mestia and stay in a very nice hotel, run by a local family.

Day 7: Mestia and surroundings
Today we will explore Mestia and its surroundings. Firstly, we will drive with a cable car to Hatsvali Station and then hike for about 3 hrs. to the next village Tsvirmi. In Tsvirmi we will meet our driver and he will bring us back to Mestia, where we can visit local family museum, with defending tower and traditional house.
At the evening we will enjoy homemade dinner with Georgian wine and beer.

Day 8: UNESCO World Heritage – Ushguli
On today’s roundtrip in Georgia, we will get to Ushguli, UNESCO World Heritage since 1994, which is located at 2.200 Meters above sea level, at the foot of highest mountain of Georgia – Shkhara (5.203m).
In Ushguli you will find yourself in the realm of medieval towers, surrounded by the mountains of Great Caucasus Range, glaciers, high peaks and roaring waterfalls.
We will walk around village, visit the main church of Svaneti – Lamaria and hike to the castle ruins of Queen Tamara.
At the evening we will drive back to Mestia

Day 9: Batumi and the black sea
Today we will leave the Greater Caucasus and drive to modern city at the black sea – Batumi. Because of its crazy architecture and plenty of casinos Batumi is often called “Las Vegas of Caucasus”. Our mission isn’t to impress you with modern cities, we want rather to show you diversity of Georgian culture, nature and architecture.
After arrival in Batumi, we will make a small city tour and then you will have time to relax at the beach.

Day 10: Botanical Garden and capital Tbilisi

We will start our day with a very pleasant walk through famous botanical garden of Batumi, which has one of the widest varieties of flora in the world and contains flora from nine Phyto-geographic areas.
Afterwards we will drive over Rikoti Pass back to our starting point – Tbilisi and get there at about 6 pm. At the evening we will drive to a Georgian restaurant to celebrate our successful roundtrip in Georgia.
